Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI)

Predicts 10-year mortality based on a weighted score of 17 comorbid conditions, widely used in oncology and surgery.

Myocardial infarction (history of, not ECG changes alone)
Congestive heart failure
Peripheral vascular disease (including aortic aneurysm ≥6 cm)
Cerebrovascular disease (stroke or TIA)
Dementia
Chronic pulmonary disease (COPD or asthma)
Connective tissue / rheumatologic disease
Peptic ulcer disease
Mild liver disease (without portal hypertension, includes chronic hepatitis)
Diabetes mellitus (without end-organ damage)
Hemiplegia or paraplegia
Moderate/severe renal disease (CKD stage 3–5 or on dialysis)
Diabetes with end-organ damage (retinopathy, neuropathy, or nephropathy)
Any solid tumour / malignancy (non-skin, treated within past 5 years)
Leukaemia (acute or chronic)
Lymphoma (including myeloma)
Moderate/severe liver disease (portal hypertension, varices, or decompensation)
Metastatic solid tumour
AIDS (not just HIV-positive; AIDS-defining illness)
