Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: April 2026

MedNext Ltd | Company No. 15333875 | Registered in England and Wales

MedNext Ltd (“MedNext”, “we”, “us”) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We continually improve the user experience across our website (mednext.uk) and our products — MedNext Academy, MedNext Portfolio, and MedNext Formulary — to ensure they are accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

1. Our Commitment

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort at MedNext. Our team of GMC-registered NHS doctors understands that healthcare professionals work in demanding environments and need tools that are usable by everyone, in all circumstances.

2. Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features across our services:

2.1 Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements on our website and applications can be accessed using a keyboard alone. Users can navigate through links, buttons, form fields, and other interactive components using the Tab key, and activate them with Enter or Space.

2.2 Screen Reader Support

Our pages use semantic HTML elements (headings, landmarks, lists, tables) to provide meaningful structure for screen reader users. ARIA attributes are used where necessary to improve the accessibility of dynamic content and custom interface components.

2.3 Colour Contrast

Text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). We do not rely on colour alone to convey information.

2.4 Responsive Design

Our website and applications are designed to work across a range of devices and screen sizes, from mobile phones to large desktop monitors. Content reflows appropriately when the browser is zoomed to 200% without loss of information or functionality.

2.5 Alternative Text for Images

All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked appropriately so they are ignored by assistive technologies.

2.6 Semantic HTML

We use proper heading hierarchy (h1 through h6), landmark regions, and semantic elements throughout our pages to ensure content is structured logically and navigable by assistive technologies.

2.7 Skip-to-Content Link

A “skip to main content” link is provided at the top of each page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive navigation and jump directly to the primary content.

2.8 Focus Indicators

Visible focus indicators are displayed on all interactive elements when navigated via keyboard, ensuring users can always identify which element is currently active.

3. Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, we are aware of the following limitations:

  • Clinical calculators: Some clinical calculators within MedNext Formulary involve complex multi-step interactions that may present challenges for screen reader users. We are actively working to improve the accessibility of these tools.
  • PDF exports: PDF documents exported from MedNext Portfolio (such as portfolio summaries and self-assessment reports) may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We recommend using the on-screen version where possible, and we are working to improve the accessibility of exported documents.
  • Third-party content: Some embedded content from third-party providers (such as video players) may not fully meet our accessibility standards. We work with our providers to improve this where possible.

4. Testing

We test the accessibility of our services using the following methods:

  • VoiceOver (macOS/iOS): Manual testing with Apple's built-in screen reader to verify content is read correctly and navigation is logical
  • Keyboard-only navigation: Full manual testing of all interactive flows using only a keyboard (no mouse or trackpad)
  • Automated tools: Regular scans using automated accessibility testing tools to identify and remediate issues
  • Browser zoom testing: Verification that all content remains usable when zoomed to 200%

5. Reporting Accessibility Issues

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our services. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

When reporting an accessibility issue, please include:

  • The web address (URL) of the page where you encountered the issue
  • A description of the problem you experienced
  • The device, operating system, browser, and assistive technology you were using

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 working days and to resolve issues within 30 working days where feasible.

6. Enforcement and Legal Framework

MedNext Ltd is a private-sector organisation. While the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 apply to public-sector bodies, MedNext voluntarily adheres to the same standards as a matter of best practice and commitment to inclusivity.

We also recognise our obligations under the Equality Act 2010, which requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments to ensure their services are accessible to disabled people. We are committed to meeting this duty across all our digital services.

7. Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is not a one-time effort. We regularly review and update our services to improve accessibility, including:

  • Incorporating accessibility checks into our development workflow
  • Training our team on accessibility best practices
  • Acting on feedback from users with disabilities
  • Monitoring changes to WCAG guidelines and updating our standards accordingly
